Buffy and I had a long discussion as to who should write this week’s post. She wanted to be the one but I did too! We both have so much to be thankful for this year.
Since Buffy did last year’s Thanksgiving post it is my turn this year!. Besides, I feel extra thankful to be with my new family and want to share my thoughts.
In a few days, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving here in the United States. A holiday that traditionally gathers together families. And a time to reflect on the many blessings we have.
Do you normally gather with friends and family? And have special traditions that carry over from year to year? This is my first Thanksgiving with my mom and her family. So I am new to what their traditions are.
There have been so many things that are challenging and different this year due to COVID-19. And added to the list is Thanksgiving. It will be celebrated without many of the usual traditions for so many families.
From what Buffy has shared with me they always stay home because of our dad’s responsibilities to his job. For us, the boarding kennel is typically quite full during holidays. So we are here to care for all of those pets.
Some years the family can come to visit us. And some years not. This year it will be my mom, dad, me, and my sisters, Kippy and Roo. We will miss having my brother, Eric, with us. And my grammie, who I haven’t met yet. But I’m sure my mom and dad will make it an enjoyable day for us.
We each have so much to be thankful for. Especially me! I am grateful to be partnered with my mom. And get to carry on Buffy’s journey of being a service dog for our mom.
I don’t know my mom very well yet. Since we have only been a team for a short while we are still getting used to each other and what we each need. But she is kind and caring. And is listening closely to me. Which makes me feel like I’m just where I’m meant to be!
I asked Buffy if she had anything to share. She told me that she is thankful that she got to give our mom so much independence for nearly eight years. And that I am here to take over that job.
So with heartfelt gratitude, Buffy and I want to thank our mom for loving us and always making us feel special.
And we extend to you, each of our readers who are following along on our journey, a very special holiday wish. Enjoy the time with your family and create some new and special memories.
Happy Thanksgiving!
