I thought it might be a good idea to let you know how it happened that I started a blog. My friend, Brito, was writing a blog to tell his story of being an unwanted rescue dog from Texas. He told me about the way he unexpectedly found his new home, which I thought was interesting.
While my mom and I were reading his blog, I got to thinking about how much I would enjoy sharing the story of my life. I thought that my life was also pretty interesting! Brito was writing entertaining and educational blog posts. I was sure that I could do the same! I can be entertaining and the educational part was really exciting to me. Helping others learn about service dogs and people like my mom who have a disability are things I love to do. I asked my mom if I could have a blog too and she said yes!
As Brito wrote more blog posts and shared more of his story, he decided that it would be a good idea to put some of those posts together into a book. He and his mom wrote “Blogger Dog, Brito!” which both my mom and I loved reading. When I asked my mom if I could write a book like Brito had done she told me that she would talk with his mom. I was so happy when she said she would help us make it happen!
Our moms have been very good friends for almost as long as I have been with my mom. They both love training dogs, learning new things, and helping other people. Brito and I think they are both extra special people! We are glad that they are friends so we can be friends too. I think we are both very lucky dogs to have moms who are attentive to our needs, care about how we feel, and do fun things with us.
Brito was telling me that over time you get people who like to read your blog. Some even subscribe so they won’t miss any posts that you write. He told me about how they read your stories and share them with their friends. Some people even leave comments to ask questions or give you ideas for future posts.
I hope you and your friends enjoy my posts. Please share the things you learn about me and my mom with other people. I have decided that reading and writing blogs is great fun and I think my friend Brito agrees!
If you would like to read Brito’s book you can purchase it at The Dog Athlete or Amazon
From the back cover…
“Welcome to my blog! I’ve been thinking about starting one for a while. It seems that everyone is writing a blog these days, and since I’m a modern kind of dog, I like to live a modern kind of life.”
And so begins the true story of Brito, an unwanted rescue dog who unexpectedly becomes the beloved companion of an internationally renowned dog trainer. Told from Brito’s point of view, these humorous and gentle stories do more than entertain. They provide children with simple games they can play with their dogs, explain easy ways to be safe together, and introduce the importance of canine body language.
Possibly most important, the book illuminates the depth of relationship that can develop between a dog and an attentive human.
