Hey, friends! I’m sorry I am a week late in getting this posted. My brother, Eric, was in a car accident so I was thinking of him and not my blog. He has some physical injuries but with time he will heal and fully recover. I was so happy when we got to the hospital and we saw him. I wagged my tail and gently gave him lots of kisses!

May is my birthday month! May 7th, to be exact. I was 7 years old this past week! My mom read that it’s called a “golden birthday” if the day of your birthday and your age that day are the same number. Isn’t that cool!

For the dogs in my family, I am probably the only one who will have a “golden birthday” to celebrate. Roo was born on November 30th. She will be 7 years old this year, but living until 30 won’t happen. Although if she did, our dad would be thrilled!

Tetra was born on the 17th of the month and turned 3 years old in March of this year. She could live to be 17, but it is unlikely. Some dogs have lived that long and even longer. But for a dog, seventeen is quite old.

I love rearranging my mom’s pillows so that they are more comfy!

Later this year, my mom and I will celebrate our fifth partnership anniversary. Time goes by so quickly! Turning seven years old this month and being with my mom for just over 4 ½ years doesn’t seem possible!

At seven, I am considered a senior. But I don’t feel like I’m that old… yet! I am still active and eager to do my job. I guess I do sleep a bit more than I used to. And the fur on my face is lighter, which is probably some gray. Although on a yellow dog, it is hard to tell.

People often ask how long my working career as a service dog will be. It is hard to say because it varies by dog. But my mom says I will probably retire when I’m ten or eleven years old. As long as I stay healthy and am willing to do my job I will continue helping my mom.

Buffy was just shy of 10 when she retired, and my mom’s first service dog, Savannah, was twelve. They both enjoyed their retirement, but I’m not ready to think about how that will be for me. I love my job and am certainly not ready to retire!

Reflection of love!

The above photo is a reflection of me and my mom. We were waiting for my dad to pick us up from one of my mom’s appointments. While waiting, my mom glanced across the room and saw our reflection in the mirror. She thought it would make a fun photo!

Overall April was a quiet month. Toward the end, we started getting some warmer temps which was nice. Although, there was also a fair amount of rain, too. As I’ve often mentioned, my mom doesn’t like to go out in the rain. It is hard for her to get dried off so sitting in her chair while wet is uncomfortable. Fortunately we were able to stay home on most of those rainy days!

My mom and I are ready for the sunshine and warmer days to come and stay! Although, my mom is hoping there isn’t too much humidity that comes along with those warmer temps.

We are wishing you a great month filled with time shared with family and friends. Create some special memories! Since my birthday is in May, I think I should celebrate all month long. Don’t you agree?
